🌿 About the Group

  1. What is the Trowbridge Service Users Group (TSUG)?
    1.  We are a peer support mental health group that focuses on reducing isolation and loneliness and building a community of support. Based on the club house day hospital model. We provide the space and members get what they need, activities or just a space to be.
  2. Who can attend the sessions at TSUG?
    1. Those living with a mental illness in and around Trowbridge.
  3. Do I need to be referred by a doctor or service to join?
    1. No, we are self-referral with a level of anonymity we just need your name in time you can reveal more about yourself. But we welcome referrals and happy if you need to bring support.
  4. Is there any cost to attend your sessions?
    1. There is no cost but if you’re in the position to drop a coin or two in the pot feel free and donation are very welcome
  5. Where are you located?
    1. The Cabin
      Seymore rd
      Trowbridge

      (portacabin on park opposite Palmer Rd)
  6. What days and times are you open?
    1. Monday (doors open 9:30am) 10am till 11am (meditation) 11am till 1pm Drop in Coffee and Chats
    2. Tuesday 10am till 12pm Coffee and Chats the Quiet session
    3. Thursday 10am till 2pm Arts and CraftsWhat types of activities do you offer?
  7. What happens during the Arts and Crafts sessions?
    1. Each month there is a project but we have a huge range of art equipment’s and project that go with them but no one is require or desire to do art its their to help members connect and inspire no more.
  8. Can I still come if I’m not feeling up to being creative?
    1. Of course each of our sessions have a desire activity coffee and chats, arts and crafts and morning meditation but each activity its their to give a common interest. We have many members who just come alone for the company or maybe it’s the free drinks and biscuits but that doesn’t matter they made the effort.
  9. Do I need to book a place in advance?
    1. No just turn up but if you want a chat before out Tuesday session is the perfect time to drop in find out what on offer

💚 Accessibility & Support

  1. Is the group suitable for people with mental health conditions or neurodiverse needs?
    1. I should hope so the group was started by a person that is neurospicy and has mental health conditions. We are peer support not therapy! just those with lived experience.
  2. Do you provide one-to-one support or counselling?
    1. ONCE a person has joined, they get access to support at peer level this is offered as a 1hr 1 to 1 session to discuss needs this my be signposting to relevant service. We are not a counselling service and do not offer as option, but group membership opens options to support.
  3. What should I expect when I visit for the first time?
    1. Chaos – honestly your own emotions may be difficult to handle, you’re going to strange place, your probable be a mess and want to leave the moment you arrive.
      But take a moment to sit chat have a coffee, relax in to the space have a chat and if your not to talkative we will be and decide.
      Your first visit is on you we will have something for you but you have to decide what best for you and always remember something is better than nothing and you can always make the best out a bad lot.
      we know we are not the solution but we are here to help support and encourage.
  4. Can I bring a support worker, friend, or family member with me?
    1. Of course whatever get you out and engaging
  5. Is your venue wheelchair accessible?
    1. Yes and on street park

Getting Involved

  1. How can I get involved as a volunteer or supporter?
    1. At moment we only do micro volunteering which is you turn up at session make drinks chat stay as long as you can. But this year we are looking at growing with paid staff and expenses for volunteers
  2. Do you accept donations, and how can I donate?

  3. What is GrassRoots, and how are they connected to TSUG?
    1. GrassRoots is a vape shop in fore street who ran a fundraiser for us their community spirit for Trowbridge is boundless
  4. Do you run any special events or seasonal projects?
    1. We run two seasonal session a summer schedule when we run evening socials to get the best of the long warm days and a winter schedule where we focus on meditation and self-healing
    2. Members have access to social media connections where social event are arranged and social connections take place
    3. We have run putting the witch back in crafting where we have recreated bottle speels and Sigle work
    4. We also connect with external agencies where members have cross link projects in to acting, knitting and more.
  5. How does TSUG help reduce isolation and improve mental health in the community?
    1. Basically, we don’t we provide a space and activities free of charge! if you want to reduce your isolation improve your mental health you will push through and turn up each week or session you will want to improve your mental health etc and in time make friends feel better. We know you have the power but we have the space the time and the desire so use what’s available

💰 Funding & Costs

  1. Does TSUG receive any government or council funding?
    1. For the last 8 years we gained funding just to survive and yes we have had council funding and others. But as we go forward we are going to be looking at funding that keep us here for 5 to 10 years
  2. What are the main costs the group needs to cover?
    1. Tea coffees and food, art supplies, rent and bills, volunteer expenses, training cost, insurance, promotional expenses visiting other group award ceremonies etc covering basic costs of group lead basic running cost
  3. Do staff or volunteers get paid?
    1. No! basic cost are covered, if possible!
  4. How can community members help with running costs like rent, heating, or materials?
    1. We have a pot on table and a donate link when and if members can. But we understand that a majority of our members are no working and face a cost of living crisis higher that others so we don’t expect them to face extra costs
  5. Where does the money from donations and fundraisers go?
    1. Apart from what’s been mentioned. Theirs an external office that runs all social and online communication that runs behind the groups brick and mortar that is not part of funding but technical expenses occur broadband and wifi web updates press release and AI development software ect. Much of which is still provide by funder
