Trowbridge Service Users Group was proud to attend the opening night of Art Heals, a new exhibition by award-winning textile artist Nicola Davis, at The Pound Arts Centre, Corsham. The exhibition features artwork created by members of Trowbridge Service Users Group alongside Nicola’s own work, celebrating creativity as a powerful tool for emotional expression and recovery.
Nicola Davis has supported Trowbridge Service Users Group for a number of years and invited the group to be involved in the exhibition. The shared theme of Art Heals is “art to express emotion, explore mental illness, and promote body positivity.” Members of the group contributed a diverse range of pieces, including written word, paintings, and a three-dimensional artwork inspired by lived experiences of mental illness.

Nicola Davis is an award-winning textile artist who specialises in handmade silk art products and creative workshops inspired by positivity, happiness, and recovery. Through Nicola Davis Crafts, she produces original silk paintings, hand-painted scarves, and a wide range of craft kits designed to be accessible and uplifting.
The Story Behind the Art
All items created by Nicola Davis Crafts are inspired by Nicola’s personal journey of recovery and a strong focus on mental well-being. A self-taught artist and entrepreneur, Nicola’s work is known for its vibrant colours and motivational themes. She also gives back through her practice, donating a portion of the profits from her cookbook, My Super Sweet Recovery Cookbook, to the eating disorder charity Beat.
Nicola’s work has gained national recognition, having appeared on Channel 4’s Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas and featured in popular television series including Emmerdale and The Walking Dead.
In addition to her artistic practice, Nicola runs a variety of silk painting workshops for all ages and abilities across Wiltshire and surrounding areas. These include:
- Full Day Silk Painting Workshop – Advanced techniques, suitable for ages 16+
- Hand Painted Silk Scarf Workshop – A creative session focused on designing and personalising a silk scarf
- Silk Painting Workshop – Sun Catchers – An accessible introduction to silk painting through the creation of sun catchers
