Trowbridge Service Users Group has managed to continue to provide support through covid and beyond but there has been a cost; the stress and other factors have affected the mental health of those that agreed to keep the group running.
Originally the group was help by the AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust) but after 12 month they pulled their support without any help to continue.
We did seek other mental health services to take us over and those that may have wanted to charge and change the ethos of the group. So, it was put to the group that the only way to stay alive was to for an unincorporated association.
An ‘unincorporated association‘ is an organisation set up through an agreement between a group of people who come together for a reason other than to make a profit (for example, a voluntary group or a sports club).
But due to covid and other factors our mental health has been under pressure, and we have not been able to fulfil our requirements. So, we would like to find a New board of Trustees who have experience of starting and running a charity and though it would be desirable to find a board who have experience of mental illness it is not a requirement.

From new board members and trustees, we are looking for experience and expertise in developing and growing a local group in to a full fledge charity. Although we are looking for experts and experience in growth the ideas and ethos of being user lead must become first. So, service must remain free and to be open to all in need and people will always come before profit.
The ideal dream is for TSUG to have its own building with multiple rooms with multiple activities helping build skills and confidence and to provide ideally a 7 day a week service helping to reduce loneliness, build confidence, social inclusion, build social connections, and give people the space to grow.
