Everyone needs time to talk.
Being listened to without judgement is one of the most powerful things another person can offer. Sharing our experiences can reduce loneliness, help us process difficult emotions, and remind us that we are not facing life’s challenges alone.
But recovery is about more than repeatedly revisiting the same problems.
For many people, traditional therapy plays an important role in their recovery journey. It can provide valuable tools, coping strategies, and professional support. Yet recovery doesn’t stop when a therapy session ends. We also need opportunities to reconnect with life, rediscover our strengths, build confidence, and feel that we belong within our communities.
That is where peer support makes such a difference.
At Trowbridge Service Users’ Group (TSUG), everyone is welcomed by people who genuinely understand because they have lived experience of mental health challenges themselves. We know that recovery looks different for everyone, and there is no single path that works for all.
Our aim isn’t to “fix” people.
We aren’t here to cure mental illness or replace professional services.
We’re here to help people build lives that feel worth living.
Recovery Through Connection
Mental health difficulties often lead to isolation. People can become disconnected from friends, family, hobbies, employment, education, and their local community.
Research consistently shows that strong social connections are one of the biggest protective factors for mental wellbeing. Simply spending time with others who understand, laughing together, sharing a cup of tea, creating something, or learning a new skill can make a real difference.
Peer support creates a safe environment where nobody has to explain what it’s like to struggle.
Sometimes you talk.
Sometimes you simply listen.
Sometimes you don’t talk at all—and that’s perfectly okay.
More Than Just Activities
Two of our weekly sessions have themes that give people something enjoyable to focus on together.
Monday Morning Meditation
Our guided meditation sessions help members slow down, reduce stress, improve emotional wellbeing, and begin the week feeling calmer and more grounded. No previous experience is needed, and there is never any pressure to participate beyond your comfort level.
Thursday Arts & Crafts
Forget the stereotype of predictable craft groups.
We love experimenting with new ideas—from glass painting and candle making to jewellery, home décor, mixed media art, and creative projects that could even become a small business or side hustle.
You don’t need to be artistic.
Many people simply come for a chat, a coffee, and the company. Inspiration often arrives naturally once you feel comfortable.
Our Tuesday evening session focuses on social connection.
Sometimes the best support isn’t structured at all. It’s simply spending time with people who understand, making friends, enjoying conversation, and remembering what it feels like to belong somewhere.
Working With Our Community
We believe recovery happens within communities, not in isolation.
Many members visit the Community Fridge at Seymour Road before joining us, and through our close links with Trowbridge Futures and other local organisations, we’re able to signpost members towards additional support whenever it’s needed.
Peer support works alongside professional mental health services—it doesn’t replace them.
Self-Referral – No Waiting Lists
You don’t need a professional referral.
You don’t need to be “ill enough.”
You don’t need to explain or justify why you’d like to come.
Our groups are completely free, self-referral, and open to adults who would benefit from peer support. Whether you’re struggling with your mental health, feeling isolated, or simply looking for understanding and connection, you’ll receive a warm welcome.

Recovery isn’t about becoming a different person.
It’s about discovering that, with the right support, connection, and opportunities, life can become meaningful again.
